The Daily Shoot 93

The topic for the Daily Shoot on Tuesday 16th February (#ds93) was "Things are always a-changin'. Make a photo that offers a snapshot of something being built, fabricated, or assembled." Talk about dropping the easy assignment into my lap: yesterday was the second day the contractors were in replacing our windows. What better way to celebrate this than through a photograph:

Hole in the wall

It shows my wife's office "window", or at least the hole in the wall where the old window was and the new window was about to be fitted. Looking out of the gap you can see the snow on the lawn of our neighbor over the street. In essence, I spent two days working at home in a sweater and jacket. Brrr.

But, you know what? The new windows are just fabulous. Wood on the inside (still to be stained/varnished though) and tan-painted metal on the outside (so no more warping and splitting and rotting — the fate of the old windows). The windows are from Pella, bought through Lowe's, and fitted by Action Remodel & Landscape, a nicer and more efficient group of building contractors I have yet to meet. I would say the replacement was completely painless, except both days were bloody freezing...

About Me

I'm Julian M Bucknall, the M because it's my middle initial and because I and the other Julian Bucknall (the movie guy) would like to differentiate ourselves.

I'm a programmer by trade, an actor by ambition, and an algorithms guy by osmosis. I write articles for PCPlus in my spare time, not that there's much of that.

Julian M Bucknall Apart from that, an ex-pat Brit, atheist, microbrew enthusiast, Pet Shop Boys fanboy, slide rule and HP calculator collector, amateur photographer, Altoids muncher.

DevExpress

I'm Chief Technology Officer at Developer Express, a software company that writes some great controls and tools for .NET and Delphi. I'm responsible for the technology oversight and vision of the company.
